Adventures in Citizenship
The Club sends a youth, aged 16- 18, from our community to Ottawa for four days to be with 220 other students from across Canada and learn about our democratic institutions and to understand the responsibilities and privileges of Canadians. The trip includes visits to various museums, tours of the Houses of Parliament, and an audience with the Speaker of the House and the Governor General. Adventures in Health Care
This is a new opportunity for Grade 10 & 11 students in 2018. Adventures in Health Care explores careers in Health Care. This programme is sponsored by Rotary and takes place in Prince George, BC and is scheduled for May 6-9, 2019.
A showcase of career pathways and educational opportunities in the health sciences in Northern British Columbia. It is part of a larger stepping stone career development experience for all British Columbia students in Grade 10 and 11 interested in a career in health care
This program will provide health science exposure through multi day, hands on adventures through many aspects of health care including tours that respect privacy and confidentiality while showing a variety of related, diverse and real health care amenities and services provided to patients and their families..
Adventures in Tourism
This is a program delivered by the Rotary Club of Kelowna Ogopogo with our club participating since 2015. Students get a chance to visit a range of tourism-related businesses in the Okanagan Valley and learn about careers in the Tourism industry.
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 14-18. Our Club supports the Interact Club at Mount Boucherie High School in West Kelowna.
The program allows young people to develop leadership skills while carrying out two service projects during the school year- one with an international focus and one for the local community. The club governs and supports itself, under the guidance of a Rotary member.
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are usually community-based or university-based and are sponsored by a local Rotary club making them true “partners in service” and key members of the Rotary family. Rotaract members decide how to organize and run their clubs, manage their own funds, and plan and carry out activities and service projects. Rotary club sponsors offer guidance and support and work with your club as partners in service.
Rotary Student Exchange
The Rotary Student Exchange is a very popular Rotary program, which allows students ages 15-19 to experience another way of life by living abroad with a host family. The program is administered by Rotary clubs, districts and multi-district groups.
Our Club, along with the West Kelowna Daybreak Rotary Club, sponsors both an outbound and inbound high school student every year. The application process begins in the Fall and the student leaves for the exchange year in the following August.
Our club is always looking for suitable candidates for this great program as well as host parents who are willing to house an incoming student for 3 months.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
RYLA, is an intensive training program for community youth leaders. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid seminar to discuss leadership skills and to hone those skills through practice. The District 5060 RYLA event is held at Naramata, usually in May and brings together up to 40 participants from the US and the Canadian side of our International District. The Rotary Club of Peachland has been an active supporter of the program for many years.
